Sheridan County HS Basketball: The Sheridan High School Basketball teams split games on the recent weekend road trip against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.

The boys won both games, while the girls did not have as much success.

Both teams return home this weekend for games and there has been a switch around with the schedule.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs will host Cheyenne South on Friday and Laramie on Saturday, instead of the other way around.

In other basketball action from this past weekend, Big Horn split their Friday games at 1A Southeast, with the boys getting the W.

The Rams and Lady Rams next play on Friday at home vs. Sundance and on Saturday at Moorcroft.

Tongue River’s games on Friday at Rocky Mountain were postponed due to weather and road conditions.

On Saturday, the Eagles were down 15-3 after 1 quarter at home vs. Sundance and came back to win.

The Lady Eagles easily cruised in their game against the Lady Bulldogs.

TR next plays on Friday at Wright.

Arvada-Clearmont also split their weekend games at home vs. Casper Chrisitian and at Midwest with the girls getting the wins.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers next play tomorrow at the Campbell County JV team, as well as Thursday at home vs. Upton and on Friday at Hulett.

Sheridan County HS Wrestling: The Sheridan boys and girls lost home duals vs. Cheyenne East, but won both duals vs. Cheyenne Central on Friday.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs will host their home finale this coming Thursday vs. Thunder Basin.

Meanwhile, Tongue River is scheduled to host the 2A Northeast Conference Duals this Thursday starting at 11am.

Other teams participating include Moorcroft, Sundance, Hulett, Upton and Wright.


Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: Junior Ben Forsyth finished 1st in both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke and the Bronc 200 yard medley relay team won their race, to help the team to a 2nd place finish at the 4A East Conference Meet at Laramie.

The State Meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 21st and 22nd at Gillette.


Sheridan HS Nordic Ski: Sheridan was racing on Casper Mountain this past weekend.

Kayley Alicke finished 1st in Friday’s girls race.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs will compete again this Friday and Saturday at Cody.


Sheridan County HS Indoor Track and Field: The Sheridan boys placed 1st and the girls 5th out of 19 teams at the Basin Nation Invitational at Gillette on Friday.

The next scheduled indoor track and field meet is this Saturday, also at Gillette.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks split home games this past weekend vs. Great Falls, losing on Friday 4-2 and winning on Saturday 3-zip.

The team sits in 3rd place in the NA3HL’s Frontier Division and are back in action this coming Friday and Saturday at Gillette.


Sheridan Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawk boys concluded the regular season over the weekend by winning both games at Gillette by scores of 11-2 and 9-2.

With the wins, the team will either be the #3 or #4 seed for the upcoming state tournament, and will have to wait another week or so to find out.

The state tournament is scheduled for February 27th through March 2nd at Cody.


University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys lost at home on Saturday vs. UNLV 68-57.

Free throws made the difference in this game as UW was only 3 of 9, while the Rebels were 16 of 19.

Obi Agbim led the Cowboys with 14 points while Cole Henry contributed with 10.

Wyoming now has a record of 11-13 overall, with a 4-9 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The Pokes next play on Wednesday at New Mexico.

The Wyoming Cowgirls won on Saturday at San Diego State 64-51.

The ladies shot nearly 51% for the game and nearly 54% from 3-point land.

Allyson Fertig led all scorers with 20 points, while Tess Barnes and Emily Mellema each put in 11.

Malene Pedersen added 10 for the cause.

UW is now 14-9 on the season and have an 8-3 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The ladies next play Wednesday at home vs. Air Force.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won on Saturday at Phoenix 122-105.

The Nuggets next play today at home vs. Portland, starting at 7pm.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won on Friday at Edmonton 5-4.

The team is now on a 2-week break as various players prepare to play in the 4-Nations Face-Off.

The Avs’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, February 22nd at Nashville.


Super Bowl LIX: The 3-peat dream for the Kansas City Chiefs came to a crashing halt last night, as they lost Super Bowl 59 against Philadelphia 40-22.

The Eagles scored the first 34 points of the game and never looked back, although KC did make the final score a little more respectable in the 4th quarter.

As for the Denver Broncos, both Super Bowl teams are on next season’s schedule.

The Broncos always play Kansas City home and away, and will visit Philly.

The 2025 schedule should come out sometime in late April or early May.

Denver will pick 20th in the first round of the NFL Draft, which starts on Thursday, April 24th.
