Sheridan Troopers/Jets/Cavalry/Infantry Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball Team secured the #1 seed out of the North for the upcoming state baseball tournament.
The team split a home double-header yesterday vs. Gillette, winning the first game 10-zip and dropping the second game 8-1.
In the first game, Cashis Kula threw a no-hitter.
He says he was focused on the mound and all his team-mates were ready for that game.
The Troopers are scheduled to play their home finale on Tuesday in a double-header vs. USA Prime out of Billings.
The state tournament is scheduled to start one week from today at Gillette.
Brackets should be finalized sometime on Monday.
There’s a strong chance Sheridan will take on the Cheyenne Hawks in the first round, but there is a small possibility that Torrington could get that final playoff spot out of the south as well.
Meanwhile the Sheridan Jets host the Bomber Mountain Dogfight series this weekend.
The team will take on the Casper Drillers tomorrow at 4:30pm and Lovell at 7:30.
Tomorrow’s schedule and opponent is to be announced based on today’s results.
As far as the state tournament goes, the Jets have to play the waiting game to see if the team makes it in or not.
Cody is scheduled to play at Gillette for a conference double-header on Sunday, and the outcomes of those 2 games will have a big say as to which team makes it in, and what seed they will be.
Elsewhere the Wyoming Legion Baseball B and C State Tournament starts today.
The Sheridan Cavalry play in the B State Tournament in Riverton and will take on Evanston in the first round at 10am.
The Sheridan Infantry play in the C State Tournament in Laramie and will take on Rock Springs in the first round at 10am.
High School National Finals Rodeo: The week-long High School National Finals Rodeo starts on Sunday in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Competitors get 2 runs in their particular event and the top 20 total on 2, are invited back for the championship short-go on the evening of Saturday, July 25th.
Representing North-Central Wyoming are Karly Davis of Buffalo in the barrel racing, Bleu Butler of Big Horn in Breakaway Roping and Goat Tying, Riggin Pearce of Sheridan in Bull Riding, Teague Duncan of Clearmont and Kade Fraley of Sheridan in Saddle Broncs, Nathan and Karly Peterson of Buffalo in boys and girls cutting and Heston Crozier of Buffalo in trap shooting.
Those who go early in Round 1, will go late in Round 2 and vice-versa.
WY Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball and Basketball Games: Those from the recently graduated Class of 2026 will hit the court one last time tomorrow.
The Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star Games are taking place at Casper College.
The Volleyball game starts at 1pm, girls basketball at 3 and boys basketball at 5.
A total of 5 athletes and 2 coaches from Sheridan, Tongue River and Kaycee will play for the North teams.
Haylie Patterson of Sheridan will participate in the volleyball game.
Ella Bilyeu and Camryn Wagner of Sheridan, along with Chaney Reish of Tongue River will participate in the girls basketball game.
Kaycee Coaches Chelsea Hepp and Stef Garcia are Assistant Coaches.
Nate Miner of Sheridan will participate in the boys basketball game.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies are back in action this weekend, now that the All-Star break is over.
The team starts a 6-game homestand today, with the first of 3 vs. Cincinnati.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.
Tomorrow and Sunday’s games start at 1:10pm.
Of the remaining 66 games on their schedule, the team needs to win 5 of them to top last year’s win total of 43, and needs to win 24 of them to avoid another 100-loss season.
