Sheridan College Rodeo/CNFR: One Sheridan College Cowboy is making the most of his second run at the College National Finals Rodeo.
Lonnie Dunn was in the CNFR last year, as a saddle bronc rider for Missouri State University West Plains.
He went 2 for 3 on his rides and did not qualify for the championship short go.
This year he’s 3 for 3 at Sheridan College, thanks to a 75 ¾ point ride last night.
He says sometimes the glitz and glamour of a big time event can throw someone off of their game plan, and the best thing to do is continue to saddle up and ride.
As of last night, Dunn is 8th overall in the Saddle Bronc standings.
The top 12 after tonight are invited back tomorrow to compete in the championship short-go, so he has to wait it out, to see if he makes it.
In other Sheridan College rodeo news, Christopher Nelson had a chance to go 3 for 3, but things did not go his way.
He initially got a score on his 3rd ride, and was given a re-ride option.
Nelson elected to take the re-ride, but he would miss the horse out of the gate and had to take a no score.
In the team roping Tyon Arneson and his partner Kash Reynolds from the University of Wyoming, turned in a time of 11.2 seconds last night, but 2 no times in the earlier rounds will keep them out of the championship.
No one from Sheridan College is scheduled to compete today.
The championship short-go is tomorrow, starting at 7pm.
Sheridan Jets Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Jets like the Troopers, have also been on a roll as of late.
The team has won 9 of their last 11 games, won a tournament in Billings, Montana last week, and then demolished the Billings Upper Deck Expos at home back on Wednesday 26-9.
Head Coach Brian Fritz says the players may be young, but they let their game and not their mouths do the talking.
The Jets are scheduled to play 2 games today at Lovell and 2 tomorrow at Jackson.
The Troopers are the other way around, as they are at Jackson today and at Lovell tomorrow.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies start a 3-game series today at home vs. Pittsburgh.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.
Tomorrow’s game starts at 7:10pm and Sunday’s game at 1:10pm.
After that, the Rocks will start a 3-game series at home vs. Boston.
