Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team did not have much trouble yesterday as the team would sweep a double-header at home vs. Douglas.
Scores were 12-zip and 11-zip.
Blaine Phillips hit a 2-run home run in the first game, and had a 3-run blast in Game 2.
Although the opposition wasn’t all that great, he says the team needed a couple of games like these.
Coach Austin Cowen says what he calls the pre-season part of the schedule is over, and it was time for Sheridan to step up their own game a notch.
The Troopers will next head to a tournament in Rapid City.
The team will play 2 games tomorrow, 1 on Friday and 1 on Saturday.
Sunday’s opponent is to be announced.
Sheridan’s next home game is next Tuesday.
Big Horn HS Boys Track and Field: One recent Big Horn High School grad wanted a little tougher competition, so he moved to Wyoming and got it.
Blake Olson won the 2A Boys 800 meter run with a time of 1 minute 56.34 seconds.
He moved from Washington state to Sheridan County for his last year of competition, and ended up getting at least 1 state championship.
Olson says he knows what small school competition is like.
He also competed on the Rams’ 4 by 800 meter relay team, which also finished 1st.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies made it 2 in a row and 4 of their last 5, thanks to an 8-2 win last night at the LA Angels.
Hunter Goodman and TJ Rumfield each hit solo home runs, while Willi Castro provided a 3-run blast of his own.
The Rocks will try to sweep the series today, starting at 7:38pm.
After that, the team will return home for 6-games beginning on Friday, with 3 vs. Milwaukee, and 3 against the Chicago Cubs.
