Beck Haswell of Sheridan HS Wins 2026 Boys Milward Simpson Award: A recent Sheridan HS grad and 2-sport athlete has been named the top overall male athlete from the graduating class of 2026.

Beck Haswell was named the boys winner of the 2026 Milward Simpson Award, becoming the 6th Bronc to do so.

Haswell was an all-state player in football and basketball for the Broncs.

He was a two-time all-state player and two-time 4A lineman of the year at SHS.

Beck was part of a Sheridan team that won the 4A football state championship all four years of his prep career and he was named the Gatorade Wyoming Football Player of the Year last year.

He was also a two-time all-state performer on the basketball court and helped Sheridan win the 4A boys’ state championship earlier this year.

Haswell has signed to play football at the University of Wyoming.


Sheridan College Rodeo: The dust has settled, champions have been crowned and Sheridan College did its job representing.

Lonnie Dunn qualified for the championship short-go in the saddle bronc riding by placing 12th after 3 rides.

On Saturday, he scored 75¾ points to place 10th in the round and 10th overall in the competition.

Dunn is a transfer from Missouri State University West Plains and explains what was different about where he was then, compared to now and how it’s made him better.

Dunn adds he will be back next season.

In the men’s team standings, Sheridan College finished tied for 36th and 37th with Montana State.


Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers won all 4 games played on the road this past weekend.

The team won both games at Jackson on Friday 11-zip and 15-to-2.

On Saturday, Sheridan won both games at Lovell 12-4 and 15-1.

The Troopers are scheduled to play at a tournament this weekend in Billings, Montana beginning on Thursday.

As for the Jets, the team split weekend games on the road against the same 2 opponents.

Sheridan won the first game at Lovell 6-4, and dropped the 2nd game 10-9.

The Jets won the first game at Jackson 13-1 and lost the second game 4-3.

The team is next scheduled to play 2 games on Wednesday at Cody.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at home vs. Pittsburgh.

The Rocks won on Friday 4-3.

TJ Rumfield hit a solo home run.

Colorado also won on Saturday 2-1.

Jake McCarthy had an inside the park home run, and the game ended when the Pirates were called for base runner interference, with a chance to tie the game.

The Rockies were unable to complete the sweep, as the team lost yesterday 8-6.

Rumfield hit a 3-run blast for the cause, but it was not enough.

The Rocks begin a 3-game series today at home vs. Boston.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.
