Sheridan Troopers/Jets/Cavalry/Infantry Legion Baseball: It’s state tournament time for Legion Baseball in Wyoming and Sheridan teams are well represented.
Both the Sheridan Troopers and Jets are in the Division One State Tournament, which begins this coming Friday at Gillette.
Of the 4 first round matchups, 2 of them will feature Sheridan vs. Cheyenne.
The Troopers are the #1 seed from the North and will take on the Cheyenne Hawks, while the Jets are the #4 seed from the North and will go up against Cheyenne Post 6.
The Jets got in when Cody lost both games yesterday at Gillette, and were tied with Powell for the #3 seed, with a head-to-head split, but lost the tie-breaker due to giving up more total runs vs. common conference opponents.
The bracket and start times for the state tournament should be available sometime today.
The Troopers last won a state championship in 1997.
Meanwhile the Sheridan Cavalry are one of 3 teams remaining at the B State Tournament in Riverton.
The team lost last night in the semi-finals against Casper and play at 10am today vs. Bridger Valley in an elimination game.
The winner of that game will play at 2pm against Casper for the championship, but since it’s double-elimination, if that team beats Casper, then there will be a rematch tomorrow.
The Sheridan Infantry ended up going 1-2 at the C State Tournament in Laramie and were eliminated by the host team yesterday afternoon.

The Rockies lost the rubber game of the series yesterday 9-6.

The team starts a 3-game home series today vs. Washington.
