Sheridan Troopers/Jets Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team is on the road this weekend to take on some out-of-state competition in Billings.

First up is a 4pm game today vs. a team from Spokane, Washington.

Cashis Kula says the next few days should provide some overdue tough competition.

Gunnar Lamb says the Troopers are welcoming this weekend’s challenges.

Meanwhile the Sheridan Jets split a pair of conference road games yesterday at Cody.

The team dropped the first game 5-2 and won the second game 5-3.

The Jets are next scheduled to play a conference double-header at home vs. Riverton next week Tuesday.

College Football: One of the newcomers to the Mountain West Conference will be post-season eligible this season.

The NCAA voted to eliminate the standard 2-year probationary period for teams transferring from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), provided that team finishes with a 6-6 record and can fulfill one of their conference’s bowl commitments.

What this means is that the North Dakota State Football team will be eligible to compete in the Mountain West Conference Championship Game, a Bowl Game and the College Football Playoff.

The Bison are joining the Conference as a football only member.

The Wyoming Cowboys are scheduled to visit NDSU for a game on October 3rd.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won the rubber game of their 3-game series at home vs. Boston yesterday 8-6.

That was game #81, marking the halfway point of the season.

The Rocks have a record of 32-49, which is about a 14-game improvement, compared to this time last year.

The team is in last place in the NL West and trail the LA Dodgers by 20 games, but compared to being 31 ½ games behind on this day last year, that’s an improvement.

Today is an off day on the schedule.

Colorado starts a 3-game road trip tomorrow vs. Minnesota.
