Some youngsters refined their technique courtesy of a former Sheridan Bronc and a Junior College National Championship Coach.

The Sheridan Wrestling Club Camp has held last week at Sheridan High School.

On hand was Bronc grad Kelten Crow, who now wrestles at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs.

He says the main goal of the camp is to give the youngsters a new approach to what they already know and keep it simple.

“We don’t need to make this sport more complicated than it is. Just trying to eliminate an arm or a leg, just to make it easier to get to the takedown.”

Along with Crow is Western Wyo Coach Art Castillo, who coached the Mustangs to the Junior College National Championship in 2023 and 2024.

He says for the young wrestlers, the camp is a refresher course of sorts, but he’s trying to add in a new twist to things and make the lessons more enjoyable.

“I think having fun is #1. Just getting out here in the summer and putting in the work and working on their craft I think is #1, but we try to make it fun, while they’re also learning and teaching them the basics, I think are key for sure in the summer and just if they can pick a couple of things from me this camp, I think that’ll be worth it.”

This year Western Wyo CC finished as JUCO National Runners-Up.
