Morning Sports: May 26, 2026
Sheridan County HS Track and Field: Sheridan County High School Track and Field teams brought home 4 trophies, 3 of which said state champions this past weekend.
The Sheridan boys 3-peated in Class 4A and made it 5 of the last 6.
The Big Horn boys 4-peated in Class 2A, while the Big Horn girls won for the first time since 2016.
The Tongue River girls brought home a 4th place trophy.
Among the many individual state champs include Nathan Bloom of Sheridan who won best of the best honors in the shot put for all classes.
Rio Hernandez of Big Horn who won the 2A boys 100, 200 and 400 meter dash races and Lyla Marney of BH who won the 2A girls 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs…setting a new class record in the latter.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Soccer: Sheridan and Johnson County High School teams brought home a few trophies from this past weekend’s state tournament in Gillette, although it was not necessarily the trophies that they may have wanted.
The Sheridan boys ended losing their first and only game of the season in Friday’s semi-finals vs. eventual state champ Kelly Walsh, but recovered to defeat Cheyenne Central to win the 3rd place trophy.
The Sheridan girls were in the consolation round after losing their first game.
The Lady Broncs defeated both Riverton and Green River to win the consolation championship.
The Buffalo boys lost in the semi-finals to eventual state champ Lander, but defeated Mountain View to place 3rd on the season.
The Buffalo girls lost in the semi-finals against Cody, and then lost in the 3rd place game against Powell to close out the season.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers went 1-4 in games played this past weekend at a round robin event played in Gillette.
Three of those 4 losses were the 1-run walk-off variety.
The team lost to the Roughriders on Friday 3-2.
On Saturday, Sheridan lost to Laramie 3-2 and against Helena, Montana 5-4.
The Troopers won the first game yesterday 10-2 vs. Green River then lost the second game 6-3 against Miles City, Montana.
Sheridan is next scheduled to play a home double-header this coming Sunday vs. Powell, beginning at 1:30pm.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies ended up losing 3 out of 4 games this past weekend at Arizona.
The D’backs won on Thursday 2-1.
The Rocks won on Friday 3-2, but lost Saturday’s game 5-4.
TJ Rumfield hit a solo home run in that game for the cause.
Arizona won easily on Sunday 9-1.
Colorado started a 3-game series yesterday at the LA Dodgers and lost the first game 5-3.
Ezequiel Tovar hit a solo home run, but it was not enough.
The Rockies are scheduled to play again today at LA, starting at 8:10pm.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey/NHL Playoffs: The Colorado Avalanche have their backs against the wall, as the team will try to avoid being swept in today’s Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals at Las Vegas.
The Golden Knights lead the series 3-zip.
If the Avs prevail, Game 5 is scheduled to be played on Thursday in Denver.
Elsewhere, Carolina won Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals last night at Montreal 3-2 in overtime, to take a 2 games to 1 series lead.
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Montreal.
NBA Playoffs: New York completed a 4-game sweep of Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Finals, winning last night on the road 130-93.
The Knicks advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999 and are waiting for the winner of the Western Conference Finals between San Antonio and Oklahoma City.
Game 5 of that series is today at Oklahoma City, beginning at 6:30pm.
That series is tied at 2 wins each.
