Morning Sports: July 14, 2026

Sheridan Troopers/Jets/Cavalry/Infantry Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team is almost in position to lock down the #1 seed out of the North for the upcoming state tournament.

Earlier this month, the team went 3-2 vs. various out of state opponents in Cheyenne and the 2 losses were not even close.

Head Coach Austin Cowen says the silver lining is that something like that could not have come at a better time at this juncture in the season.

The Troopers host a conference double-header against defending state champ Gillette on Thursday.

Sheridan needs to win 1 of 2, to secure the #1 seed out of the North for the state tournament.

Meanwhile the Sheridan Jets are done with conference play and now have to wait it out to see if they’re in the state tournament or not.

Until then, the team is hosting a small tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The ‘B’ and ‘C’ state tournaments both start this coming Friday.

The Cavalry will be in Riverton and are scheduled to take on Evanston at 10am in the first round.

The Infantry will be in Laramie and are scheduled to take on Rock Springs at 10am in the first round.

Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The 2026-27 schedule for Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team is now available.

The regular season starts on Friday and Saturday, September 11th and 12th at Rapid City, and the team plays their first 4 and 10 of their first 14 on the road.

The home opener is September 25th and 26th vs. Bozeman.

Helena visits Sheridan for 3 games.

Those dates are October 10th, as well as January 8th and 9th.

Last season, the Hawks finished 1st in the NA3HL regular season, but lost to Helena in the division finals.

Major League Baseball: The All-Star Game is today in Philadelphia.

First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.

Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman is a reserve player for the National League.

The Rocks resume play on Friday, as the team hosts 3 games vs. Cincinnati, followed by 3 games vs. Washington.
