Sheridan College Rodeo: You may have heard the phrase there’s strength in numbers and that can apply to practice time as well.
In preparation for the recent rodeo season, Sheridan College Coach Bobby Harris went on a recruiting blitz and when practice started back in September, he had more than 40 members on the team.
The numbers paid off in the form of a 2nd place finish in the Central Rocky Mountain region standings for the men, which entitles them to have up to 6 participants in this year’s College National Finals Rodeo, which begins this coming Sunday.
Cowgirl Sierra Hilgenkamp qualified in the breakaway roping thanks to placing in the top 3 in the region at the end of the season.
Coach Harris says he credits the team’s work ethic.
Saddle Bronc Rider Christopher Nelson describes what was different at practice time compared to years’ past.
This past season, the Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo that Sheridan College hosted in late September, was named the Central Rocky Mountain Region Rodeo of the Year.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies snapped their 4-game skid, by winning the first of 3 games last night at home against the Chicago Cubs 7-3.
Hunter Goodman hit a 2-run home run and Ezequiel Tovar hit a solo shot to aid the cause.
The Rockies and Cubs play each other again today in Denver, starting at 6:40pm.
NHL Stanley Cup Finals: Carolina scored twice in the first 3 ½ minutes of the game, and added 2 more in the 3rd period to pull away and win Game 4 last night at Las Vegas 5-3.
