Sheridan WYO Rodeo 2026: Competition at the 96th Sheridan WYO Rodeo is underway with one event.
Steer Roping started last night and will resume today at 8am at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.
Barrel Racing will take place at 6pm.
More slack round action is scheduled to take place tomorrow and it will include team roping, tie down roping, steer wrestling and breakaway roping.
The first rodeo performance as well the World Championship Indian Relay Races is scheduled for tomorrow, beginning at 7pm.
Sheridan Jets/Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Jets have a chance to take 1 step closer to qualifying for the State Tournament.
The team hosts the Gillette Rustlers for a conference double-header today, beginning at 5pm.
The team is currently in 4th place in the North Conference, which is where a team needs to be at the very least to play in the state tournament, which starts on Friday, July 24th in Gillette.
Meanwhile the Sheridan Troopers are scheduled to play a double-header tomorrow, against the Upper Deck Expos out of Billings.
Track and Field: A Sheridan High School and recent Air Force Academy grad picked up a new event, and now he could try to go for the gold.
Texas Tanner, who graduated from Sheridan in 2022, placed 2nd in the hammer throw last month at the NCAA National Championship Meet in Eugene, Oregon, and is now working on trying to qualify for the 2028 Summer Olympics which are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
The hammer throw is not an event at Wyoming High School meets, but Tanner says he attended an off-season camp one year, and once he got to the Academy, the team dropped one at his feet, he picked it up and impressed the coaches, despite his limited experience at the time.
He explains when it was he figured out that he might have something good going on.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the first game of a 3-game series last night at the LA Dodgers 8-7 in 11 innings.
Ezequiel Tovar hit a solo home run for the cause, but the opposition would get a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th.
The Rocks and Dodgers are scheduled to play each other again today, beginning at 8:10pm.
The All-Star Game is one week from today and 1 Rocky will represent the National League.
Catcher Hunter Goodman was selected for the second year in a row, as a reserve player.
Goodman currently leads all MLB catchers in terms of slugging percentage, extra base hits and total hits.
The All-Star Game is scheduled to take place in Philadelphia.
