Stephen Gamble Of Sheridan HS To Attend Hutchinson CC For Livestock Judging

One Sheridan High School Senior who has raised and shown livestock is hoping to get a better idea on what to look for in the industry.

Stephen Gamble has signed his notice of intent to join the livestock judging team at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

He says he first bought cattle in 2020 to show at the county fair, and got involved in judging a few years later.

Gamble explains that judging requires you to develop your own patterns and not sound like everyone else.

“There’s a whole bunch to learn and it’s constantly changing, but I think just staying consistent and staying motivated and the results will show themselves eventually. A lot of it is the reason side of it and livestock judging is having an original sound, so I think just kind of developing the way you sound, not giving just a written out set of reasons way you sound. Same as everyone else, you want to sound original and so just kind of developing your own your own feel for it in a way.”

He adds he intends to major in ag business.
