Sheridan College Rodeo: The first day of the week-long College National Finals Rodeo is over and Sheridan College did well in the one event that the team is heavily stacked in.
In the first round of Saddle Bronc Riding, Christopher Nelson would score 81.75 points on his ride to place 4th.
Jake Schlattmann got 76 points and is in 11th place and Lonnie Dunn put together a 72 ½ point performance to end up in a tie for 17th and 18th place.
Taiton Eaton and Brody Hale got no scores.
The day before the CNFR started, it was announced that bareback rider Reece Reder was injured and could not compete.
Hale was added in as a late substitution.
On the women’s side, Sierra Hilgenkamp took a no-time in the breakaway roping.
The only Sheridan College cowboy that has yet to take his first round, is Tyon Arneson in the team roping.
He will go sometime in today’s slack round which starts at 7am.
Nelson, Eaton and Hilgenkamp will have their second runs today as well.
Schlattmann, Dunn, Hale and Arneson will have their respective second runs during the slack round tomorrow.
Wyoming Shrine Bowl Football Game 2026: The annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl Football Game in Casper was a very 1-sided affair in favor of the North.
The final score was 55-zip, which is the largest margin of victory by either team in the history of the game.
Breck Reed of Sheridan caught 2 touchdown passes, while James Ihnat of Buffalo snagged 2 interceptions and was named the defensive MVP of the game.
The North has won the last 3 Shrine Bowls and 11 of the last 13.
WY vs. MT All-Star Basketball: The Wyoming All-Stars did not have a good weekend against their counterparts from Montana, losing all 4 games.
The 2 scores from the boys contests were 92-72 and 83-68, while the girls scores were 84-30 and 100-40.
Friday’s games were played at Gillette and Saturday’s games were at Billings.
Sheridan Troopers/Jets Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers went 4-0 in games played this past weekend vs. 2 different teams from Casper.
Saturday’s scores on the road against the Drillers were 9-zip and 14-1, while yesterday’s scores at home against the Wildcatters were 8-nothing in both games.
The team focuses on conference play this week, as they are scheduled to play 2 games on Friday at Jackson and 2 on Saturday at Lovell.
Meanwhile, the Sheridan Jets went 4-1 over the weekend, to win a tournament in Billings.
The team defeated the same Helena team in the championship game that beat them back on Thursday.
The Jets are also on the road for conference business this weekend in the reverse order compared to the Troopers, meaning they are scheduled to play Friday at Lovell and on Saturday at Jackson.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies ended up losing 2 out of 3 games played this past weekend on the road against the Athletics, but closed out the series with a bang.
The Rocks lost on Friday 6-4.
Cole Carrigg provided a 3-run blast, which is his second home run since being called up last week from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Colorado lost on Saturday 7-5.
Brett Sullivan went yard on his own in that game, but it was not enough.
The bats showed up in record numbers yesterday as the Rockies won 23-9, setting a new franchise record for most runs scored in a game.
The old record was 20, set 2 years ago.
Among those 23 runs, Goodman hit both a 2-run and a solo home run, while Willi Castro provided a 2-run shot and a grand slam.
Troy Johnston knocked one out of the park for 2 and TJ Rumfield provided the final score with a solo shot of his own.
The Rocks are scheduled to be back in action today as the team starts a 3-game series at the Chicago Cubs.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm.
NHL Stanley Cup Finals: Carolina shut out Las Vegas last night on the road in Game 6, 3-zip, to win the series 4 games to 2 and claim the cup.
Jordan Staal won the Conn Smythe Trophy, which goes to the MVP.
At 37 years old, he is now the oldest player to win it.
Staal scored 6 times, during the Stanley Cup Finals series.
NBA Finals: For the time since 1973, the New York Knicks are champs.
The team won on Saturday on the road in Game 5 against San Antonio 94-90, to win the series 4-games to 1.
Jalen Brunson scored 45 points in the clinching game and was named MVP of the series.
