Summer Showdown Night 2

Brennon Weight, LaMoure, N.D., (28) won the 40-lap Wissota Midwest Modified Feature and $10,000 at Sheridan Speedway during the annual Summer Showdown Saturday. Troy Leiker of Gillette was second in the caution-free race followed by Lucas Rodin of Marion, N.D. Last year’s winner, Jake Smith of St. Joseph, Minn., finished fourth.

Leiker started on the outside pole, Weight was the polesitter. Leiker took the lead on the first lap and held it for 16 laps before Weight took the lead and drove away. Both of them made several cross over moves in their battle.

Weight said he is going to pay some racing bills he has with the money he won.

Sheridan’s Griffen Switzenberg finished 11th, followed by Chad Switenberg in 12th and Justin Will in 16th.

Sheridan’s Dean McCalla finished eighth in the 20-lap Wissota Mod Four Feature Saturday.
