Sheridan Troopers/Jets Legion Baseball: Hitting one out of the park is no easy task, but one Sheridan Trooper has put himself into the record books.

Earlier this month, Blaine Phillips set a new Wyoming Legion Baseball AA State Record with his 11th home run of the season.

He says he’s not letting his ego take control when he gets to the plate and whenever it happens, it happens.

The Troopers are preparing for the Wyoming Legion Baseball Division One State Tournament, which begins tomorrow at Gillette.

Sheridan is last year’s AA State Runners-Up and will play the Cheyenne Hawks in the first round at 4pm.

The Sheridan Jets are also in the state tournament and will take on Cheyenne Post 6 at 1pm.

Other first round games have the Casper Oilers vs. Powell at 10am, and Laramie vs. the Gillette Roughriders at 7:30pm.

The state champ qualifies for the AA Northwest Regional Tournament that will be played at Medford, Oregon, while the state runner-up will play in the A-League Northwest Regional Tournament in Casper.

High School Rodeo: The High School National Finals Rodeo in Lincoln, Nebraska has passed the halfway point.

Round 1 concluded at around 12-noon yesterday and Round 2 started last night and will run until about 12-noon Saturday.

Those who had their first run late in Round 1, go early in Round 2 and vice-versa.

The top 20 total on 2 are invited back to compete in the championship short-go on Saturday evening.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the rubber game of their 3-game series at home vs. Washington yesterday 8-zip.

The Rocks are off today and start a 5-game road trip tomorrow with the first of 3 at Milwaukee, followed by 2 at San Diego.
