Sheridan HS Softball: The Sheridan High School softball team closed out the regular season yesterday with a bang of sorts.
Hosting a double-header vs. Campbell County, the Lady Broncs were down 6-zip after 2 ½ innings, then battled back and Sydney Murner delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 7th, to help her team win the game 7-6.
Game 2 was all Sheridan as the team put the mercy rule on the Lady Camels, 15-nothing in just 3 innings.
Emerson Kelley pitched a 1-hit shutout on the mound, and Hayden Lewallen hit a grand slam in the rout.
She says things have turned around for the Lady Broncs since they were swept at Thunder Basin almost 3 weeks ago.
Sheridan has won 11 of their last 12.
The Lady Broncs finish the regular season with a record of 20-and-7 with 1 tie and will be the #3 seed out of the northeast.
The team will take on Natrona County in the first round of the North Regional Tournament which starts on Friday in Gillette.
Sheridan HS Boys and Girls Soccer: Brackets are now available for the upcoming 4A regional tournaments this weekend.

WHSAA Discusses Possible Changes To Activities: The Wyoming High School Activities Association Board of Directors recently met to discuss the projected funding shortfall for student activities and athletics resulting from recent changes to Wyoming’s school funding model.
The Wyoming Legislature decreased funding for the student activities and extra-duty responsibilities by about $4 million, which is about an 8.4% decrease for school districts across the state.
There has been discussion about either changing or eliminating some activities, both athletically and non-athletically, but WHSAA Commissioner Trevor Wilson says that decision falls more on each of the schools more than anything else.
Commissioner Wilson says as far as the next school year goes, or school year 2026-27, any changes or elimination of activities will be minimal.
The next WHSAA Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for September 29th.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey/NHL Playoffs: The Colorado Avalanche won Game 4 of their second round best of 7 series last night at Minnesota 5-2, and now lead the series 3-games-to-1.

The Thunder advance to the Western Conference Finals and are waiting for the winner between San Antonio and Minnesota.
That series is tied at 2-wins each.
Elsewhere, Cleveland won Game 4 at home vs. Detroit 112-103, to tie up their series at 2.
