Wyoming HS Football All-State and All-Conference Lists Available: All-State and All-Conference lists for high school football have been announced for this season and a total of 23 players from North-Central Wyoming High School Teams, are on this year’s all-state list.

Representing Sheridan are Beck Haswell, Breck Reed, Bridger Peldo, Justyce Lucas, Ty Gilbertson, Garrett Way, Kelten Crow, Harvey Fryberger, and Karson Chase.

Several of those named won all-state awards in multiple positions.

Crow and Way tied for the 4A Defensive Player of the Year, and Haswell was named the 4A Lineman of the Year.

Bronc Head Coach Jeff Mowry was named 4A Coach of the Year.

All-State Players for Big Horn include Avon Barney, Kolby Butler, Bridger Doke, Chase Garber, Cruz Hernandez, Billy McCool, Owen Petty, Will Taylor and Daniel Walker.

McCool was named the 2A Lineman of the Year.

Rams Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin was named the 2A Coach of the Year.

One person from Tongue River made the All-State list and that was Jack Melger.

For Buffalo, Zayne Huber, Hayden Jawors and Lane Rabel were selected.

Taylor Cleveland was the lone player from Kaycee on the 6-man All-State list.

Winter Sports Practice Starts: Now that the fall sports season is over, it’s time for athletes to turn their attention to the winter sports season.

Practice for basketball and wrestling starts today, and competition can start as early as Thursday, December 12th.

Boys Swimming starts practice one week from today, while Nordic Ski practice started last week.

Indoor Track and Field practice and competition doesn’t start until January.


Sheridan Rec District Turkey Hoop Shoot: Tonight is the Sheridan Rec District Turkey Hoop Shoot.

Parents and their children team up in a basketball shooting competition, as shooters get points by making baskets from certain locations on the floor.

The event takes place at Sheridan Junior High School.

Competition starts at 7:15pm.

Prior registration is not required and the cost to participate is 2 non-perishable food items per contestant.

Turkeys and fresh pies will be awarded to the top 2 teams.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks won both ends of a home and home series vs. Gillette this past weekend.

Friday’s score at home was 8-3, as Josh Serino scored a hat trick.

Saturday’s score on the road was 8-4.

Serino had another hat trick in that one.

The Hawks are back on the road this Friday and Saturday against Great Falls.


Sheridan Hawks and Lady Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks won both games at home this past weekend vs. 1st place Cody.

Saturday’s score was 5-4 and yesterday’s score was 4-3.

The Hawks have a couple of weekend’s off from competition and next play on the weekend of December 13th through the 15th.

As for the Lady Hawks, they started their season with 3-1 and 4-3 wins at Laramie.

The girls have this weekend off from competition and will play their home opener on December 7th and 8th vs. Gillette.


University of Wyoming Football: tThe Wyoming Cowboys kept it close but was unable to finish the job as the team lost their home finale vs. Boise State 17-13.

Starting quarterback Kaden Anderson was 9 of 14 passing for 116 yards and 1 touchdown pass to Justin Stevenson.

Unfortunately Anderson had to miss the 2nd half of the game as he was checked for a concussion.

Backup QB Evan Svoboda was 6 of 13 passing for 87 yards.

Kicker John Hoyland had 2 field goals to help the cause.

The Brown and Gold’s record is now 2-9 and the team will conclude the season this coming Saturday at Washington State.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30pm.

As for Boise State, their win assures that the Broncos will host the Mountain West Conference Championship Game on Friday, December 6th.

Their opponent will either be UNLV or Colorado State.

The Rams were in the driver’s seat before they got beat this past weekend at Fresno State.


University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys won at home this past Friday vs. Southeastern Louisiana University 64-61.

The Pokes had a 13 point lead in the 1st half, lost it in the second half, but recovered.

Jordan Nesbitt had a double-double for UW with 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Obi Agbim put in 11 points of his own.

The 2 differences in the game was that the Cowboys outscored the opposition in the paint 28-14, and found more ways to get to the free throw line as they were 19 of 33 from the charity stripe compared to 11 of 16 for Southeastern Louisiana.

Wyoming is now 4-1 on the season and are heading to Cancun Mexico, to play in a 4-team tournament tomorrow and Wednesday.

Tomorrow’s opponent is Tulane University, starting at 4pm.

Wednesday’s opponent will either be Belmont or Loyola Marymount.

As for the Wyoming Cowgirls, they were also victorious at home this past Friday as the team beat Colorado Christian at home 80-54.

Allyson Fertig led the way with a double-double, 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Emily Mellema and Payton Muma put in 11 points each.

The ladies shot 51% for the game, scored 44 points in the paint and got 40 points from the bench.

UW is now 2-3 on the season.

The Cowgirls will head to San Juan, Puerto Rico for a 4-team round robin event.

On Thursday they play Drake University at 11:30am.

Friday’s opponent is Norfolk State, also at 11:30am and on Saturday, UW will play Virginia at 10:30am.


Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos won yesterday at Las Vegas 29-19, making it the first time in 10 years that the team has swept the head-to-head series against the Raiders.

Quarterback Bo Nix was 25 of 42 passing for 273 yards and 2 TD tosses to Courtland Sutton.

In the process, Nix broke the team record of touchdown passes by a rookie quarterback.

The old record was 14 set back in 1968 by Marlin Briscoe.

Will Lutz kicked 5 field goals yesterday to help the cause.

Denver’s defense came up with 5 sacks.

The Broncos are now 7-5 on the season with 5 games to go, and as it stands right now, the team would have the final wild card spot in the playoffs.

The next game will be next Monday night, one week from today, at home vs. Cleveland.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets split games this past weekend, losing at home on Friday vs. Dallas 123-120, but recovered to win on Saturday at the LA Lakers 127-102.

The Nuggets next game is today at home vs. New York.

Tip off is scheduled for 7pm.


Colorado Avalanche: The Colorado Avalanche won on Saturday at defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida, 7-4.

The Avs will conclude their 4-game East Coast trip today at Tampa Bay.

The puck drops at 5pm.
