Sheridan HS’s Addie Pendergast Wins 2024 WY Gatorade Girls Track and Field Athlete Of The Year: One of, if not the fastest female runner in the state, has earned top honors for the second year in a row.
Recent Sheridan High School grad Addie Pendergast has been named the Gatorade Girls Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year for 2024.
This past season she not only won the state championship in the 400 meter dash and 300 meter hurdles races, she set new overall state records in the process.
Academically she had a 4.46 GPA and was valedictorian of her class.
Pendergast says if there’s one thing in her track career that she’s thankful for, it’s everyone she met and competed against.
Pendergast’s track career will continue at Stanford University.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: Last week was a learning experience for the Sheridan Troopers.
The team traveled about 12-hundred miles to Omaha, Nebraska and played opposition from Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Arkansas.
The Troopers turned in a record of 1-6 and only managed to score a total of 12 runs in those games.
Coach Austin Cowen says Sheridan played better than what those numbers might indicate, but there was one big thing the team had trouble doing.
Center fielder Tyler Hutton says the Troopers had some goals set for last week, and the team got some of things they wanted and learned they need to take the game a little more seriously.
Beginning tomorrow, Sheridan will compete in a tournament at Billings, Montana.
The team will play the Lightning Baseball Academy out of Parker, Colorado, at 2:30pm, and then play Great Falls, Montana after that.
On Friday, the Troopers play Williston, North Dakota, at 2:30pm and then take on Miles City on Saturday at 12-noon.
Sunday’s schedule is to be announced.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies dropped the first of a 2-game series yesterday at Houston 5-2.
The Astros scored all 5 of their runs in the bottom of the first inning, and that was all they needed.
Michael Toglia hit a solo home run in the 9th inning for the Rocks, but it was not enough.
Today’s game starts at 12:10pm.
Colorado is off tomorrow, and then on Friday the team will start a 3-game series at the Chicago White Sox.
