Morning Sports: December 22, 2025
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Basketball: Sheridan and Johnson County High School Basketball teams went a combined 16-13 in games played this past Thursday through Saturday, ahead of the winter break.
The Sheridan boys and girls swept both genders of both Casper schools.
The Broncs are playing again right after the Christmas Holiday as they will participate in a 3-day 6-team tournament in Phoenix, beginning this coming Saturday.
The Lady Broncs are off from competition until January 8th.
The Big Horn boys went 3-1 at home in the Foothills Classic, while the girls were 4-0.
The Tongue River girls went 3-1, but the boys went 0-4.
The Kaycee boys and girls each went 1-3 in games played at Southeast and at Lingle-Ft. Laramie.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Wrestling: The Sheridan Lady Broncs won their home round robin dual invitational back on Saturday.
Paizlee Clark was named the most outstanding wrestler.
The team is scheduled to compete again on January 2nd and 3rd at Bozeman, Montana.
The Sheridan boys went 2-5 in duals this past weekend at Gillette.
The Broncs are back in action on January 9th and 10th at Douglas.
The Tongue River boys went 3-4 in duals at Worland and placed 2nd in the silver bracket, while the Buffalo boys went 2-5 and placed 7th in the same bracket.
Two Bison wrestlers and 1 from TR ended up competing in the best of best, once the duals were finished.
Sheridan/Buffalo HS Boys Swimming and Diving: Ben Forsythe of Sheridan set pool records at both Casper schools this past weekend.
The Broncs placed 3rd as a team in Friday’s pre-invite at Natrona County and was 4th at the Casper Invitational on Saturday at Kelly Walsh.
The Buffalo boys were 2nd in Saturday’s meet.
Both teams are back in action on January 2nd and 3rd.
Sheridan Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks swept a 2-game series at home vs. Gillette.
Scores were 15-zip and 7-2.
The team is next scheduled to play on January 9th and 10th at Cheyenne.
University of Wyoming Men’s and Women’s Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys got a wake up call back on Saturday, as the team lost their Mountain West Conference opener at home against newcomer Grand Valley University 82-70.
The team did not shoot well, as they only made 37% from the field, and were 3 of 26 from 3 point land.
Meanwhile the opposition shot better than 56%.
Leland Walker led the Brown and Gold with 13 points, and Nasir Meyer added in a dozen.
UW is next scheduled to play one week from tomorrow on Tuesday, December 30th at Air Force.
The Wyoming Cowgirls did not shoot the ball well either back on Saturday, as the team lost at Fresno State 53-36.
The ladies only made about 32% of their shots, scored only 2 points in the 2nd quarter, and 6 in the 4th.
Malene Pedersen put in 17 points to help the cause, but it was not enough.
The Cowgirls are next scheduled to play one week from Wednesday, on New Years’ Eve at New Mexico.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos’ team record 11-game win streak came to an end yesterday, as the team lost at home vs. Jacksonville 34-20.
The stat that sticks out the most was that the Jaguars were 8 of 15 on 3rd down conversions.
Denver QB Bo Nix was 28 of 47 passing for 352 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
Catching the TD was Courtland Sutton.
RJ Harvey ran for 1 score, and Will Lutz kicked 2 field goals.
Despite the loss, the Broncos still control their own destiny to get the #1 seed in the AFC playoffs, but there’s not much time to regroup and recover.
Denver next plays this coming Thursday night, on Christmas Day, at Kansas City.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets lost this past Saturday at home vs. Houston 115-101.
The Nuggets are next scheduled to play today at home vs. Utah.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won a pair of games over the weekend.
The team won on Friday at home vs. Winnipeg 3-2 and won yesterday at Minnesota 5-1.
The Avs are next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Utah.
