Sheridan HS Football: The time has come for Sheridan High School football players to hit someone, but since it will be their own teammates, they’ll have to watch it to an extent.

After 3 days of practice, the Broncs can put on the pads today and the players can get the early season aches and pains out of their system, ahead of the first game.

Between now and then, there’s a lot of underclassmen with not much varsity experience that have to help replace the 25 players that graduated from last year’s team.

Senior Brady Hartman says the easiest thing for them to do is to have some faith and know that every player has their own job to do.

Sheridan is on a 55-game win streak which is the longest in Wyoming High School football history and is the 2nd longest active streak in the country.

Head Coach Jeff Mowry says the hype has been enjoyable, but for those who have not been involved that much in those past wins, it can be a mental challenge to keep the streak going.

The best thing that the coaching staff can do is teach the new varsity players that it’s not always about winning, but as long as they find ways to get better, the wins may take care of themselves.

A part of that 55-game win streak, includes a state record 34-game winning streak at home.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Golf: The 2-day Sheridan Invitational is scheduled to conclude today at Kendrick Golf Course, weather permitting.

Among the competitors is Addison Bettiger of Buffalo, who was last year’s 3A Girls Individual State Champ.

She says for the first day of the first competition of the season, she did pretty good, compared to a rough off-season during the summer.

Competition today is scheduled to resume at 9am.

Tongue River is competing at a 2-day meet at Powell, while Big Horn is scheduled to start their season tomorrow at a 1-day meet at Upton.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won 2 out of 3 games at Arizona, by virtue of winning yesterday’s rubber game 6-4.

Brett Sullivan hit a 3-run home run and Zac Veen added a 2-run shot for insurance.

The Rocks are off today and start a 3-game series tomorrow at San Francisco.
