High School National Finals Rodeo 2025: When it comes to the timed events in rodeo, cowboys and cowgirls tend to have a specific time that they want to beat, in a particular event.
At the High School National Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, it seems that 7 seconds is the goal in Goat Tying.
Halfway through Round 1 of competition, only 2 girls have gotten the job done in fewer than 7 seconds, and one of them is from Sheridan County.
As of last night, Bleu Butler of Big Horn is the Round 1 leader in the Goat Tying competition, with a time of 6.97 seconds.
That puts her in 1st place by 1 one-hundredth of a second.
The first round of competition will conclude tomorrow morning and then Round 2 will start tomorrow evening.
Butler will have her second run Friday morning.
The top 20 on 2 runs combined will return Saturday evening to compete in the championship short-go.
Elsewhere at the High School NFR, Kolby Smith of Sheridan is scheduled for his first ride this evening in Bull Riding.
In the Reined Cow Horse competition, James Foss of Buffalo is scheduled to go this morning, while Cooper Justus of Parkman will have his first run this evening.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers are back at full strength, and things have been clicking as of late, especially on the mound.
During their current 9-game win streak, starting pitching has had 3 complete games and also have 5 shutouts.
Will Greer says, including himself, pitchers are starting to find the zone.
Sheridan will conclude conference play on the road this week.
It starts with a big double-header tomorrow at Gillette.
The best that the Troopers can do seeding wise for the AA State Tournament is the #4 seed, while the Roughriders are trying to lock down the #1 seed.
After tomorrow night, Sheridan plays 2 on Sunday at Rock Springs.
The AA State Tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 28th at Cheyenne.
Major League Baseball: The home run hitting derby was last night in Atlanta and some history was made.
Cal Raleigh, who is the catcher for the Seattle Mariners, became the first catcher to win the competition.
He leads the Majors in home runs so far this season with 38, but he almost did not get out of the first round, as he finished tied for 4th, but won the distance tie-breaker, by 0.08 feet.
The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is today starting at 6pm.
Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman is a reserve player for the National League team.
