It’s almost high school playoff football time in Sheridan County.
For the second week in a row, the Sheridan Broncs will play Laramie, but this time the game will be played at home.
Head Coach Jeff Mowry said in his post-game interview last week, since it’s the same opponent, there’s no need to scout, rather the team just needs to work on what did not go right last week and take a more serious approach this week.
“Did we read our keys like we were supposed to, and if we didn’t, then why not and what do we got to do in practice to make sure we’re ready to do that. In the post-season, if you don’t game plan and you have a hiccup, we’re done, so we really got to focus on every single week and take care of business on Friday night and to do that we’ve got to do that Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, so there’s no looking ahead for us. It’s a matter of taking it one day at a time and being ready to go Friday.”
Kickoff tomorrow is scheduled for 6pm.
Big Horn will start the 2A playoffs tomorrow at home against an opponent they know nothing about, both in terms of this year and historically.
BH has had a football team since 1939 and Worland has had a team since 1921, but despite their long histories, the 2 teams have never played each other before.
If there’s one thing the Warriors have going for them, it’s that the team has the 2nd best run defense in Class 2A.
Rams Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin explains what he’s seen on film about the opposition.
“They got a lot of good pieces. They got some good athletes at the skilled positions. They’ve got some big tough o-linemen. They can do some really good things. Defensively, they’ve got one of the best run stopping defenses in 2A, so they’re going to be a tough opponent.”
McLaughlin adds despite not playing in a close game for quite some time, he feels Big Horn has been playing some really good football as of late.
“It would be nice to have had some closer games to see where we are from a character standpoint, but I think our kids are on point. We’ve played some really good football. We’ve executed early in games and been able to put teams away early, and that says a lot and I think they’re not complacent. That’s the biggest thing and they know that it’s a new season and we can be looking ahead to round 2, or a Laramie trip yet, because we’ve got a good opponent coming to town and we got to play good football this Friday.”
Kickoff at BH tomorrow is scheduled for 6pm.
