Wyoming HS Basketball Class 4A/3A State Tournament: This is the final weekend of the Wyoming High School Winter Sports Season, and that means it’s time for the big schools to have their turn on the basketball courts in Casper.

The Class 4A and 3A State Basketball Tournaments start today and run through Saturday.

The Sheridan girls will tip off at 10:30am vs. Green River, and the boys will start at 1:30pm, also vs. GR.

Both of those games will be played at Casper College.

The Broncs are trying to win only their 3rd state title in school history.

The other 2 were in 1959 and in 2003.

Aaron Ligocki will have the LIVE radio-by-play call of both games, on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

The Buffalo boys and girls will also play today at the Ford Wyoming Center.

The Bison tip-off at 1:30pm against Lovell, while the Lady Bison take on Cody at 5pm.

Ben Forsythe Of Sheridan HS To Swim At Drury University: One of Sheridan High School’s most successful swimmers will swim for a University that’s had a lot of national championship success.

Ben Forsythe has signed a written offer of athletic aid to compete at Drury University, which is a private NCAA Division II school, located in Springfield, Missouri.

Last month, Forsythe 3-peated as Wyoming State Champ in both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke races, and was named swimmer of the year for the second year in a row.

He was born in Russia and was adopted and brought to America when he was 1 year old, living first in Maryland, near the US Naval Academy.

Forsythe’s family moved to the Sheridan area during his junior high school days and as a high school swimmer, he broke multiple records at various school pools.

He explains what he thinks it was that got the attention of the Panthers’ swim team and adds he ended up surprising himself with all the records he broke.

Forsythe says he plans to major in either biology or pre-med.

The DU men’s swimming and diving team won 10 National Championships, between 1981 and 1994 as an NAIA team and 12 NCAA Division II National Championships, between 1999 and 2014.

Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks were down 2-1 after 2 periods last night at Rapid City, then with around 7 minutes to go in the game, they would score twice in 46 seconds, to win 3-2, and take a 1-nothing lead in their best 2 out 3 NA3HL Frontier Division playoff series.

Game 2 is tomorrow in Sheridan starting at 7:30pm.

If a Game 3 is needed, the Hawks will host that game as well on Saturday.

University of Wyoming Men’s Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys came up short yesterday against UNLV 73-70, in their first round Mountain West Conference Tournament game.

The Pokes rallied from a 16-point 1st half deficit, and had a 3 point lead with about 20 seconds to go, but could not hold on.

UW was 3 of 21 on their 3-point tries, but what kept them in the game was collecting 21 offensive rebounds, and scoring 22 second chance points.

Gavin Gores led the Brown and Gold with 15 points.

Nasir Meyer put in 14 and Damarion Dennis had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Wyoming has a record of 18-14 and are now playing the waiting game, to see if the team will get any kind of post season invitation.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won last night at home vs. Houston 129-93.

The Nuggets are next scheduled to play today at San Antonio.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.

Colorado Rockies Pre-Season Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won yesterday at Seattle 11-7.

Adael Amador hit a solo home run, Glenallen Hill Junior provided a 3-run shot, and Braxton Fulford delivered a 2-run blast of his own.

The Rocks are scheduled to play today at Arizona.

First pitch is scheduled for 2:10pm.
