Sheridan WYO Rodeo: It’s rodeo week in Sheridan and now it’s time for competitors to shine under the spotlight.
The first rodeo performance of the Sheridan WYO Rodeo starts at 7pm with the World Champion Indian Relay Races up first.
Before that, there is more slack round action this morning starting at 8 o’clock.
Events include Team Roping, Tie-Down Roping, Steer Wrestling and Breakaway Roping.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers have recovered from their June slump, by putting together a recent 6-game home win streak.
Pitcher Griffen Switzenberg says most of the focus now is on conference business in Wyoming, but the team isn’t going to overlook the opposition from Billings, that’s coming to visit this weekend.
There has been one change to the schedule.
The Billings Scarlets have canceled Friday’s double-header, however the 406 Flyers out of Billings will take their place and it will be a single 9-inning game, starting at 1pm.
On Sunday, the Troopers are scheduled to play a double-header at home vs. the Billings Royals beginning at 1pm.
Grand Canyon University Joins Mountain West Conference: What was supposed to happen this time next year is happening now, and the Mountain West Conference has a new member.
Grand Canyon University, located in Phoenix, Arizona is now officially in.
The Antelopes recently competed in the Western Athletic Conference in all sports that it offers, except for football, because the school does not have a team.
For this upcoming school year only, the Mountain West Conference will have 12 teams competing in various sports such as volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball to name a few.
After this school year is over, 5 teams will leave the conference to join the PAC-12 and a few other teams will take their place.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost their 2nd game in a row at Boston last night 10-2.
Hunter Goodman’s 2-run homerun in the top of the 9th, helped the team avoid the shutout.
The Rocks will try to avoid being swept as the team closes out the 3-game series today starting at 5:10pm.
Tomorrow is an off-day on the schedule and then Colorado will start a 3-game series on Friday at Cincinnati.
