Sheridan/Johnson County HS Basketball: Conference play started in basketball for Wyoming High School 4A teams this past weekend.

The Sheridan boys flexed their muscles with wins at Cheyenne East and at Cheyenne Central.

The girls on the other hand, came out on the short end of things against both teams.

Both the Broncs and Lady Broncs are at home this weekend for games vs. Laramie on Friday and against Cheyenne South on Saturday.

The Arvada-Clearmont girls went 2-1 in games played at Ten Sleep, while the boys were 0-3.

Both teams are scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. the Campbell County freshmen team.

The Buffalo boys lost at Douglas, but recovered to win at home vs. Rawlins, while the girls won both games.

Both the boys and girls are at home this coming Friday vs. Glenrock.

Kaycee’s game on Friday at home vs. Hulett was postponed due to bad weather and road conditions.

On Saturday, both the boys and girls won at home vs. Rock River.

The Buckaroos and Lady Bucs next play this coming Thursday at home vs. Midwest.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Wrestling: The Sheridan Lady Broncs were runners-up at a dual meet tournament at Natrona County this past weekend.

Both the girls and the boys as well as Buffalo and Tongue River are scheduled to compete this weekend at Moorcroft.

The Bison and the Eagles are scheduled to have a dual meet vs. each other tomorrow at TR.

Sheridan/Buffalo HS Boys Swimming and Diving: Sheridan was at Laramie and placed 11th in Saturday’s meet.

Buffalo won the Sublette County Invitational held in Big Piney.

Most of the competition this weekend will take place in Casper.


Sheridan/Johnson County HS Indoor Track and Field: The season started this past Friday at Gillette.

The Sheridan boys placed 1st and the girls were 2nd of 11 teams.

This weekend’s competition is scheduled for Saturday at Gillette again.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks won both games at home vs. Bozeman this past weekend.

Scores were 6-2 and 5-zip.

This week is an off week from competition.

Sheridan will be back in action the following weekend, on January 30th and 31st at Helena.

The next home games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 6th and 7th.


University of Wyoming Men’s and Women’s Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys lost this past Saturday at Fresno State 63-60.

The Pokes were up 58-56 with about 3 minutes to go, but the Bulldogs would close out the game on a 7-2 run.

The one statistic that stuck out the most was that the opposition found more ways to get to the free throw line.

Fresno State was 18 of 27 from the charity stripe, while the Brown and Gold was 11 of 12.

Leland Walker led Wyoming with 17 points.

Nasir Meyer put in 13 and Damarion Dennis added in 10.

The Cowboys are next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Boise State.

The Wyoming Cowgirls won their home game on Saturday vs. Air Force 67-44.

The ladies shot 52% from the field and were 14 of 20 from the free throw line.

Malene Pedersen was the leading scorer with 24 points.

Jane Rumpf had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

UW plays a home and home series this week vs. Utah State.

Wednesday’s game is at home and Saturday’s game is on the road.


Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos won a thriller on Saturday at home vs. Buffalo 33-30 in overtime, to advance to the AFC Championship Game, but it came at a cost.

Quarterback Bo Nix was 26 of 46 passing for 279 yards and 3 touchdowns, but during the overtime period, he suffered a broken ankle and he is done for the season.

Backup QB Jarrett Stidham will take over this Sunday, when Denver hosts New England in the AFC championship game.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm.

In Saturday’s game, former University of Wyoming Quarterback Josh Allen was 25 of 39 passing for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns, but he was intercepted twice and lost 2 fumbles.

For the Broncos, among those who caught the touchdowns, include UW grad and Laramie High School grad Frank Crum.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets split weekend home games, winning on Saturday vs. Washington 121-115, but lost yesterday vs. Charlotte 110-87.

The Nuggets are next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. the LA Lakers.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost on Friday at home vs. Nashville 7-3.

The Avs are next scheduled to play today at home vs. Washington.

The puck drops at 2pm.
