Lilly Charest Of Sheridan HS Chasing State Pole Vault Record: If it were not for a rule technicality, one Sheridan High School track and field athlete would own a new state record.
The girls state record in the pole vault is 12 feet 6 and ½ inches set in 2021.
Senior Lilly Charest has already cleared 12 feet 8 inches at least once this season, but the Wyoming Coaches have a rule in track and field, that it’s not a state record, until you do it at the state meet.
This past weekend she won the Wyoming Track Classic which is considered a best of the best meet and a preview of the state competition.
Charest says the goal to get that state record is still in sight and participating in a few other track events has helped her get better.
Sheridan is scheduled to compete this Friday at a meet in Gillete.
The 4A Girls Pole Vault competition at the state meet will be one of the first events on Friday, May 23rd.
Sheridan HS Softball: Sheridan is on the road this week to conclude the regular season.
The team plays 2 today at Worland starting at 4 and 6pm, and then play tomorrow at Jackson beginning at 1 and 4pm.
The North Regional Tournament is next weekend in Casper.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: One month is in the books for the Sheridan Troopers and from the team’s perspective, there’s still about another month to go before things get more serious.
The team is currently 8-5 on the season which puts them in the middle of the pack in the State AA standings.
Head Coach Austin Cowen says the goal for the team now is to work on being consistent.
The Troopers are scheduled to host a doubleheader vs. Rapid City Post 320 on Saturday starting at 1pm and host a doubleheader vs. Bozeman on Sunday beginning at 11am.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost last night at home vs. Detroit 8-6 in 10 innings.
Ryan McMahon and Michael Toglia each hit 2-run home runs for the cause, but it was not enough.
The Rocks and Tigers will play a double-header today starting at 1:10pm.
