Sheridan HS Football: After a scoreless first quarter on Friday, the Sheridan High School football team woke up, put 27 points on the scoreboard before halftime, and went on to win their home opener of the season vs. Thunder Basin 41-19.

Quarterback Andrew Adams had 2 touchdown passes, while Beck Haswell ran in 2 scores and Breck Reed ran in 1 and caught 1.

Broncs Head Coach Jeff Mowry says despite giving up 19 points in the second half, he was overall pleased with them teams’ performance, and even more pleased that he now has 4 quarters of video to sort through, unlike in the previous game against Cheyenne South.

Sheridan is home again this coming Friday as the team takes on Natrona County, who is also 2-0 on the season.


Big Horn/Tongue River HS Football: Big Horn’s defense got 2 interceptions in the 4th quarter, and the Rams kicked a field goal in the final 12 minutes to beat Lovell 17-15.

Quarterback Tucker Wulff connected with Bridger Doke for 1 touchdown, while Preston Moline scored on a pick 6.

BH is scheduled to start 2A East conference play this coming Friday at Wheatland.

Tongue River lost their home opener back on Friday vs. Thermopolis 22-7.

The Eagles are scheduled to start 2A East Conference play this coming Friday at Burns.


Sheridan/Johnson County HS Volleyball: Three of the 4 Sheridan County teams, along with Buffalo were at the Gillette Invitational this past weekend.

Sheridan went 5-1 to win the silver bracket.

Big Horn went 3-3 to finish 2nd.

Tongue River went 3-3 to place 3rd.

Buffalo went 1-4 to place 3rd in the copper bracket.

Meanwhile, Arvada-Clearmont lost a pair of 1A Northeast Quadrant games both at Upton and home against Midwest.

Kaycee lost their season opener back on Friday at home vs. Hulett.

As far as games this week…Sheridan will start 4A East Conference play on Friday at Cheyenne East and on Saturday at Cheyenne Central.

BH will host Pine Bluffs on Thursday and the Lady Rams along with Tongue River will play in the Big Horn Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Buffalo is scheduled to compete at the Rawlins Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

A-C is scheduled to play tomorrow at Sheridan against one of the Lady Broncs’ JV teams.

After that the Lady Panthers and Kaycee will travel to compete in the Southeast Invitational at Yoder on Friday and Saturday.


Sheridan/Johnson County HS Golf: Addison Bettinger of Buffalo and Camryn Wagner of Sheridan placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the girls competition of the Buffalo Invitational last week.

Elsewhere at the Moorcroft Invitational, Easton Lewis placed 1st for the Tongue River boys, while Savannah Tremain and Talitha Winfrey were 2nd and 3rd on the girls side.

There’s only 2 weekends of competition remaining in the season.

Sheridan is hosting the 4A East State qualifier meet at Kendrick Golf Course this coming Thursday and Friday, while Buffalo will be at the 3A East Meet at Torrington on the same 2 days.

TR and BH will compete at a 2-day meet at Wright on Friday and Saturday.


Sheridan/Johnson County HS Cross Country: Freshman Eli Balkenbush of Sheridan won the boys race at the Buffalo Invitational back on Friday at the TA Ranch.

The Broncs placed 1st in the team standings.

Ellie Farris of Buffalo placed 3rd in the girls race, to help the Lady Bison place 2nd.

This weekend, Sheridan and Big Horn will run on Saturday at Bozeman, Montana.

Buffalo is scheduled to compete Thursday at Gillette, while Tongue River is running on Friday at Douglas.


Sheridan/Buffalo HS Girls Swimming and Diving: Sheridan placed 2nd at the Kelly Walsh Invitational back on Friday, and 3rd at the Natrona County Invitational on Saturday.

Buffalo placed 2nd on Friday at the Cody Invitational.

The Lady Broncs and the Lady Bison are scheduled to dual each other this coming Thursday in Sheridan.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks lost both games at Rapid City this past weekend to start the season.

Friday’s score was 3-2, and Saturday’s score was 4-2.

The Hawks next play this coming Friday and Saturday at Gillette.


University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys are now 2-0 on the season after winning their home opener back on Saturday vs. Northern Iowa 31-7.

Quarterback Kaden Anderson was 17 of 23 passing for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns.

John Michael Gyllenborg caught 1 and Chris Durr Junior caught the other.

Sam Scott and Tote Harris ran for 1 TD each.

The win may have come at a cost though, as Anderson went down with an upper body injury in the 4th quarter.

UW next plays this coming Saturday at home vs. Utah.


Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos are 1-0 on the season after winning at home yesterday vs. Tennessee 20-12.

Quarterback Bo Nix was 25 of 40 passing for 176 yards and threw one touchdown to Courtland Sutton.

Nix was also picked off twice.

J.K. Dobbins ran for 1 TD and Will Lutz kicked 2 field goals.

The Broncos defense held the Titans to 2 of 14 on 3rd down conversions, delivered 6 sacks, recovered 2 fumbles, and held the opposition to 133 yards of total offense.

Denver next plays this Sunday at Indianapolis.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at home vs. San Diego.

The Rocks won Friday 3-zip, as Hunter Goodman hit a solo home run and starting pitcher Kyle Freeland went 8 innings, allowing only 2 hits and struck out 10.

Colorado lost on Saturday 10-8.

Goodman went yard again.

Jordan Beck added a 3-run shot and Mickey Moniak knocked one out of the park as well, but it was not enough.

The Padres won yesterday 8-1.

The Rockies begin a 7-game road trip today with 3 games at the LA Dodgers, followed by 4 games at San Diego.

First pitch today is scheduled for 8:10pm.
