Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The 5th time was the charm for the Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team at the Wyoming AA State Tournament in Cheyenne.

In the 4 previous meetings earlier this season, the team came up short every time vs. Gillette, with 3 of those 4 losses being 1-run contests.

The tables finally turned yesterday as Will Greer pitched 6 ⅔ innings and gave up only 1 run, as Sheridan upset the top seeded Roughriders 2-1 in the second round.

Head Coach Austin Cowen says the team is relieved to get that Gillette monkey off their back.

Now a bigger challenge awaits today, and that is going up against the host team and 5-time defending AA State Champ Cheyenne Post 6, with a berth in Friday’s championship game on the line.

The Troopers played at Cheyenne back in middle-June, so the players are familiar with the atmosphere and the field conditions.

Although the team did not win either game last month, Coach Cowen says the players have beaten Post 6 before, and explains the strategy to beat the opposition.

First pitch today is scheduled for 6:30pm.

Cheyenne defeated Casper yesterday 5-3, after trailing 3-zip after 1 inning.

Other scores from yesterday, Laramie eliminated Rock Springs 10-5 and the Cheyenne Hawks ended Jackson’s season by a score of 10-1.

As for today’s games, at 12:30pm it’s the Cheyenne Hawks vs. Gillette, and at 3:30pm it’s Laramie vs. Casper.

Both of those are elimination games.

Denver Broncos Football: The top receiver for the Denver Broncos is staying with the team.

Courtland Sutton has signed a 4-year $92-million contract extension, with $41-million of that guaranteed.

The SMU product was Denver’s 2nd round pick in 2018, and last year he caught 81 passes for 1,081 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The Broncos first pre-season game is one week from this coming Saturday at San Francisco.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost game 2 of their 3 game series at Cleveland yesterday 10-4.

Jordan Beck, Michael Toglia, and Kyle Farmer each hit solo home runs, but it was not enough.

The Rocks will try to make it 2 out of 3 against the Guardians today, as the 2 teams close out the series, starting at 4:40pm.
