Sheridan HS Football: While most other Wyoming High School football teams started practice earlier this week, Sheridan is in the middle of week 2 and already have the pads on.

The team lost 25 players to graduation and last week the Broncs worked on the basics to bring the underclassmen up to speed on how things work.

Senior Colton Philipp says everyone is learning with an open mind.

Senior Sladan Bogdanovic says so far the underclassmen are starting to figure things out.

The season starts one week from Friday at Rock Springs.

Sheridan HS Tennis: Sheridan will play their home opener today as the team goes up against Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East in non-conference action.

Start times are at 9am and 12-noon.

After today, the Broncs and Lady Broncs will be on the road for the rest of this week with matches on Friday at both Casper schools and on Saturday at Laramie.

University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys have been practicing for 2 weeks and the team is a little more than 2 weeks away from starting their season.

Head Coach Jay Sawvel says during his previous 2 seasons, the program has done well at recruiting and keeping players, and the defense has been strong as well, but the offense hasn’t always been there.

Last year, the Pokes were last in the Mountain West Conference in terms of average points per game, last in offensive average yards per play, next to last in touchdowns scored and next to last in total offensive yards per game.

Speaking at UW Media Days last week, Sawvel adds that needs to turn around this year.

The Brown and Gold are scheduled to start the season on Saturday, September 5th at Colorado State.

The home opener is scheduled for September 12th vs. Northern Colorado.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies comeback effort last night was a little short, as the team lost at home against the LA Dodgers 7-6.

Willi Castro hit a solo home run, but the club left the tying run stranded at first in the 9th inning.

The Rocks will try to avoid the sweep today as the team closes out the 3-game series, starting at 6:40pm.
