Sheridan County HS Football: It’s time to play football in both Sheridan County and in Wyoming, as the first game week of 2024 is here.

The Sheridan Broncs will kickoff their season this coming Friday at home vs. Cheyenne South.

The team has been working the past 2 weeks on figuring out who goes where and put a game plan together.

Head Coach Jeff Mowry says Sheridan is almost where it needs to be, and now that it’s game week, and the start of school tomorrow, players are now going to adjust to a more regular weekly routine.

Senior Chance Morris describes what game week can be like sometimes, and what the Broncs have accomplished the past 2 weeks.

Friday’s kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.

Elsewhere in Sheridan County, Big Horn will play a scrimmage at home vs. the Natrona County sophomore team starting at 6:30pm.

Tongue River will play a home game vs. the Sheridan JV team on Saturday, starting at 10am.


Sheridan HS Tennis: The Sheridan boys and girls went a combined 3-1 on the road vs. the 2 Casper schools back on Friday.

The boys won both matches, while the girls split.

The next scheduled tennis matches are this coming Saturday, as the Broncs and Lady Broncs will resume North Conference play at Powell and at Cody.


In High School Golf, Tongue River and Big Horn started their seasons this past Friday, at a 1-day meet at Sundance.

Eagle Sophomore Easton Lewis finished 1st in the boys competition by 9 strokes.

Both TR and BH are next scheduled to play this coming Friday at Moorcroft.

Meanwhile the Sheridan golf teams are next scheduled to play this Thursday and Friday at Gillette.


Sheridan County HS Volleyball/Cross Country/Girls Swimming: As for the rest of the fall sports, competition starts this week.

In Volleyball, Sheridan will play Friday and Saturday at the Cheyenne Invitational.

Big Horn will play at the Douglas Invite, while Tongue River will play at the North Big Horn County Invitational at Rocky Mountain.

Arvada-Clearmont is scheduled to play on Friday at an Invitational to be played at Lingle-Ft. Laramie.

In Cross County, Sheridan, Big Horn and Tongue River will race Friday at the UW Invitational at Cheyenne.

The Sheridan Girls Swimming and Diving Team will start their season on Friday and Saturday at a competition in Gillette.


University of Wyoming/Mountain West Conference Football: It’s also game week for the University of Wyoming football team.

The Cowboys play their first game under new Head Coach Jay Sawvel this coming Saturday at Arizona State.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30pm Mountain Time.

Three teams in the Mountain West Conference started their seasons this past Saturday.

New Mexico had a 31-14 lead going into the 4th quarter at home vs. Montana State, thanks largely to 2 defensive touchdowns, but the Bobcats would own the final 15 minutes, scoring 21 unanswered points, including the winning TD with 14 seconds to go, and win 35-31.

Elsewhere in the Conference, Nevada had 4th quarter problems of their own.

The Wolfpack were up 24-13 after 3 quarters at home vs. SMU, and ended up losing 29-24.

Hawaii would prevail in their season opening game at home vs. Delaware State, 35-14.


Denver Broncos Pre-Season Football: The Denver Broncos made it 3-0 in the pre-season with a 38-12 win at home vs. Arizona yesterday afternoon.

Backup quarterback Zach Wilson was 16 of 25 passing for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns.

One to Nate Adkins, the other to Brandon Johnson.

Wilson also ran one in himself.

Audric Estime had a rushing touchdown, and Levelle Bailey contributed with a 94-yard pick 6.

Starting quarterback Bo Nix did not play.

All NFL teams must cut their rosters down to 53 players by 2pm Mountain Time tomorrow.

The regular season for Denver starts on Sunday, September 8th at Seattle.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at the New York Yankees.

On Friday they were shut out 3-zip.

On Saturday, Michael Toglia hit a solo home run and Jake Cave added a 2-run shot, as the Rocks won 9-2.

Yesterday, Colorado lost 10-3.

With about 1 month remaining on the schedule, the Rockies are already assured of their 6th straight losing season.

The team hasn’t had a winning record since 2018.

Today, the Rocks start a 7-game homestand, with the first of 4 vs. Miami.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.
