Sheridan HS Tennis: The Sheridan High School Tennis team went 3-1 yesterday in their home opening matchups against Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East.

The Broncs are the defending State Champs, and one of those players is senior Ben Bujans who placed 3rd in #1 singles at last year’s state meet.

He says he’s playing better this year, because now he’s more comfortable with playing at the singles level.

Sheridan is next scheduled to play tomorrow at both Natrona County and Kelly Walsh, as well as on Saturday at Laramie.


Sheridan County HS Golf: Sheridan is back in action today and tomorrow at a 2-day meet in Casper.

Big Horn and Tongue River are scheduled to play in a 1-day meet tomorrow at Sundance.

TR also plays on Saturday in a 1-day meet at Moorcroft.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: There’s less than 1 month to go before the start of the season for the Sheridan Hawks.

Practice starts soon, but there will be new coaches on the bench.

Recently Coach J.J. Santagata announced he is taking a coaching position in Springfield, Illinois.

He joined the Hawks as an assistant coach in the 2022-23 season, and was the head coach for each of the past 3 seasons, the last of which, he led the team to a regular season 1st place finish in the NA3HL Frontier Division.

Taking his place will be Todd McIlrath who played 3 seasons at Bowling Green State University and played professionally in the All-American Hockey League, and later with the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL, which is the third highest level of professional hockey and is a AA pipeline for the AHL and the NHL.

Also coming to Sheridan is Assistant Coach Drew Carlson who played college hockey at Iowa State and has held a variety of coaching roles in the past 7 years.

The first game for the Sheridan Hawks is on Friday, September 11st at Rapid City.

The home opener is scheduled for Friday, September 25th vs. Bozeman.


University of Wyoming Basketball: The schedule for the Wyoming Cowboys is now available.

For the 2nd year in a row, the Pokes will play an exhibition game in Gillette, against former Sheridan College Coach Steve Smiley who now coaches Northern Colorado.

That game is scheduled for Sunday, October 11th.

Other exhibition games are on October 17th vs. Texas Tech.

That game will be played in Midland.

There’s 1 home exhibition game on October 24th vs. the College of Idaho.

The regular season starts on November 3rd at home vs. Regis University.

The Brown and Gold will travel to North Carolina on November 10th to play the Tar Heels.

In late November, UW will play in a tournament in Daytona, Florida.

The Cowboys will play Colorado State once, at Fort Collins, on December 11th.

Mountain West Conference play starts on January 2nd at home vs. Nevada.

All MWC teams will play each other twice, for a total of 18 conference games.

New to the conference for basketball is Hawaii, UTEP and Cal-Davis.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies were swept in a 3-game series at home vs. LA Dodgers, losing last night 6-4 in 10 innings.

Mickey Moniak hit a 2-run home run to tie the game in the 7th inning.

The Rocks are off today and start a 3-game series tomorrow at home vs. Cleveland.
