Korah Condos of Sheridan HS To Play Volleyball at Sterling College: The High School Volleyball season continues in Wyoming, but one Sheridan High School senior has decided where she will play at the collegiate level.
Korah Condos has signed a written offer of athletic aid to compete at Sterling College in Kansas, which is about 70 miles northwest of Wichita.
The senior says her interest in the sport started when Sheridan College had a team and explains why she thinks volleyball is exciting.
Condos adds she plans to major in biology.
Sterling College is a private evangelical Christian college.
The Lady Warriors compete in the NAIA, as a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Volleyball: Sheridan is scheduled to play their home finale today vs. Thunder Basin.
The varsity start time is at 6pm.
In Johnson County, Kaycee also plays today as the team hosts the freshman team from Buffalo.
Tongue River HS Volleyball: The Tongue River volleyball team got the Big Horn monkey off of their back last week.
The Lady Eagles prevailed in 5 sets on the road, to get their first win against the defending 2A State Champ Lady Rams in 4 years.
Senior Chaney Reish says despite trailing at one point 2-sets-to-1, TR kept it together and that there was more pressure on BH to finish the job, compared to her team pulling off the comeback.
Tongue River was last year’s 2A State Runners-Up.
Reish says up until last week, this season has been all right, and it took awhile for the team to figure out the best combination of players to have out on the floor at certain times.
TR is scheduled to conclude their regular season this coming Friday at home vs. Wright.
University of Wyoming Football: Things fell apart for the Wyoming Cowboys in last week’s loss at Air Force.
Early in the 4th quarter, with the game tied at 14, the Pokes were knocking on the door, and then backup QB Evan Svoboda threw an interception in the end zone that the Falcons eventually cashed in on.
Head Coach Jay Sawvel says play calling contributed to that miscue.
The next possession resulted in the second interception, this one by Kaden Anderson.
Coach Sawvel says the starting QB tried too hard to make something happen.
In preparation for this weekend’s Border War game at home vs. Colorado State, Coach Sawvel has relieved offensive coordinator and play caller Jay Johnson of his duties.
Johnson will remain on board this season as an offensive analyst.
Taking his place will be former Poke Jovon Bouknight, who has been the wide receivers coach.
Kickoff for this Saturday’s game in Laramie is scheduled for 5:30pm.
Major League Baseball Playoffs: George Springer’s 3-run home run in the bottom of the 7th inning made the difference, as Toronto won Game 7 of the American League Championship Series last night at home vs. Seattle 4-3, to win the series 4-3 and advance to the World Series.
Game 1 of the Fall Classic is scheduled for this coming Friday as the Blue Jays will host the LA Dodgers.
