Aaron PalmerIncident Command has released the latest update on the House Draw Fire as of Friday, August 23.
Johnson County’s Commissioners, earlier Friday, signed an emergency declaration that will allow more resources to be brought in to assist with fire suppression efforts.
Incident Command has established a Facebook page that can be referenced for updates and more streamlined information.
That page can be reached at:
Another site for information can be found at:

The public is being asked not to call police/sheriff dispatch for updates as they are inundated with calls and should not be used for anything other than service or emergency calls and not a source of information.
Roads in the fire area are open to local traffic only.
Those that evacuated and want to return are asked to use extreme caution.
Several agencies are gathering information and confirming it is accurate and are funneling it to one location to avoid conflicting or incorrect information.
Incident Command is asking the public to refrain from bringing in donations at this time, as the fire halls are well stocked with supplies, food, and water, but want to thank the public for their generosity and ongoing support.
Specific Fire information as of August 23:
The House Draw Fire is currently estimated at approximately 165,000 acres, and as of this morning, is at 0% containment.
Evacuations have been lifted. County roads Tipperary, Irigary, Nine Mile, and Sussex Cutoff remain open to local traffic only.
Residents returning to their homes should be aware that there may still be fire activity and should remain vigilant in case conditions change.
I-90 and Hwy 59 have been reopened.
Current Resources: Approx. 190 personnel, including 3 hand crews, 23 engines, 9 dozers/graders, (2) type-1 helicopters.
