Primary Election Results

The three candidates moving on to the General Election for the three available seats on the Sheridan County Commission are Jim Schellinger, Christi Haswell and Holly Jennings. There were no Democratic candidates for County Commission. Sheridan County Clerk Eda Schunk Thompson easily defeated challenger Christine Temple in Tuesday’s Primary and will move on to the General Election.

Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez defeated challenger Howie Fitzpatrick to advance out of the Primary. The race for Sheridan County Coroner was won by Robert Byrd. Sheridan County voters narrowly said yes to the establishment of a Sheridan County Senior Citizen Service District. All six of the candidates for Sheridan City Council advance to the General Election, as it is a nonpartisan position and there are three seats available.

The race for Governor was narrowed to three candidates Tuesday night as Gillette native Eric Barlow easily won the Republican Primary. He will face Democratic candidate Kenneth Casner and Constitutional Party nominee Rebecca Bextel in the General Election.

Harriet Hageman’s bid for one of Wyoming’s two seats in the U.S. Senate took another step forward by having little trouble advancing to the Primary in November. Her opponent will be Democratic Primary winner James Byrd. Robert Short won the GOP nomination for Secretary of State and will face Democrat Bryan McCarty in the General Election.

The next Superintendent of Public Instruction in Wyoming will come down to Republican Steve Harshman and Democrat Ana Cordova, who both easily won their primaries Tuesday.  Incumbent Curt Meier advanced to the general election for the position of State Treasurer. He will run unopposed in November, as there were no Democratic candidates in the primary.

Republican Chuck Gray and Democrat Lisa Kinney advanced to the General Election for Wyoming’s lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. All of the results are unofficial until they are certified through canvassing later this week in Sheridan County and statewide. Just 85 people raised property taxes on everyone in Sheridan County. Actually IF ONLY 43 YES VOTERS had voted NO, we would have stopped the tax hike.
That’s 43 people raising taxes on 15,000 property owners.
That’s tyranny of the minority. That’s a dictatorship of the few over the many.
    Demand a recount.
    Lower taxes are better.

Did people vote for Hageman just because she is Republican? She certainly does not represent her constituents; she is a bona fide trump yes man (or woman rather). The town hall she held she answered no questions just repeated party rhetoric. Is this who the people really want to represent their best interests? Sad state of affairs and a rough road ahead if there is no actual positive change for this beautiful state and its’ citizens.

So you’ll join me in asking for a hand recount?
