Sheridan College Foundation Leads Investment in Johnson County Education and Workforce Expansion
The Sheridan College Foundation recently committed to a contribution of $3.5 million toward the new Sheridan College in Johnson County Center for Higher Education in Buffalo. This major contribution positions the Foundation as a key driver in bringing an enhanced, modern educational facility to the community. According to information from Sheridan College, the new center will build on existing programs and expand offerings in high-demand areas such as skilled trades and agriculture. These additions will be designed to meet regional workforce needs and provide students with pathways to meaningful careers without leaving Johnson County.
In addition to funding the new facility, the Sheridan College Foundation is actively supporting a county-wide scholarship matching initiative. Through this effort, up to $200,000 dollars is available to be matched dollar-for-dollar to support scholarships for degree-seeking students from Johnson County. With early contributions from the City of Buffalo, Johnson County, and individual donors through the annual Golf for Knowledge event, over $65,000 dollars have already been raised, bringing the fund to over $130,000, including the match.
As part of this initiative, the college has established a new President’s Scholarship. This scholarship will support degree-seeking students by covering tuition and fees for up to 15 credits per semester for two semesters, reducing financial barriers and encouraging student completion.
Community members still have the opportunity to contribute to the matching scholarship fund and maximize the impact of their support while matching funds remain available.
