With the abundance of lake trout in Lake DeSmet, Wyoming Game and Fish Department fisheries biologists will host a public meeting from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the Sheridan Regional Office, 700 Valley View Dr., to discuss the fishery.

Lake trout have been present in Lake DeSmet for many years, and recent Game and Fish surveys indicate a strong population with the potential for significant growth in the coming years.

To alert the public and hear their thoughts, the Game and Fish recently conducted a survey which was sent to Wyoming Game and Fish Department fishing license holders. During the Sept. 22 meeting, biologists will give a short presentation on the current state of the fishery and share results from that survey.

The meeting will also include a discussion on the future management of Lake DeSmet and its fish populations.
