Upcoming Events at Clearmont Historical Center

The Clearmont Historical Group held its monthly meeting on Monday, August 17. CHG president Robert Prusak reported that the group raised $1093.60 cents with the silent auction fund raiser this year. The fund raiser is held in conjunction with the ice cream social, which was held on Sunday, August 2.

He said that was down from last year’s auction, and Sandy Hirz, Historical Center Director, said that the two high selling items sold for $45 each.

Member Meshelle Cooper commented that she felt the attendance was down this year, which may have contributed to the short fall.

President Prusak, in his report, said the CHG reached out to the Arvada-Clearmont school.

He added that after that meeting, he and Sandy Hirz attended a meeting at the school with teachers and staff. He said that they told them what they did and what all they had at the Center.

That will be held on Tuesday, August 25, Hirz said.

Several events are planned for this fall at the Center, but they will be held in the Clearmont Community Center, as the Historical Center is short on space. Plans are being made for a Plains Indian Talk, the annual Veteran’s Program, and a display featuring Ucross.

The group will hold a community Thank-You BBQ on Sunday, September 13, at 3 p.m. in Branding Iron Park. CHG will furnish hamburgers and hot dogs, and those attending are asked to bring a side dish, salad or a dessert.

Hirz also asked for volunteers to help clean the center this fall, so anyone wishing to volunteer can call the center at 1-307-758-4685 or email clearmonthistory@gmailcom. Day and time to be announced.

Fran Felz, who was the assistant at the Center for many years, recently moved away, so anyone interested filling her place in helping out at the Center can contact Sandy Hirz for more information.

The Center is now accepting items for the new Fabric and Fiber Handwork Premiere show. Fabric crafters are welcome to come and display their handiwork through the month of October.

There will be demonstrations offered as well, dates and times to be announced.

Center hours through October will be Thursday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
