September is Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a dedicated time to raise mental health awareness, share warning signs, and promote vital resources like the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Sheridan County Community Prevention Manager Dr. Ann Perkins read a proclamation at this week’s Sheridan City Council business meeting proclaiming September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in the City of Sheridan.
Perkins said the Wyoming Department of Health reported 168 suicides in 2024 and that Sheridan County lost 16 individuals to suicide in 2025.
If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health call 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. It is free, confidential, and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also chat online at 988lifeline.org.
