Sheridan County Seeking Public Comment on Updated Community Wildfire Protection Plan
Sheridan County Fire Warden Chris Thomas works with rural fire departments and other agencies to coordinate wildfire prevention, preparedness and response throughout the county.
Thomas also advises county commissioners on fire restrictions as conditions warrant. While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Thomas said through a federal grant, the County has been revising its 2018 Community Wildfire Protection Plan to address wildfire risks across the entire county, including communities, fire districts, unincorporated areas and critical infrastructure.
Thomas and the County are asking for any public comments and feedback on the draft of the new plan.

The draft identifies hazards, assess wildfire threats and establish priorities for mitigating risk. Presented in PDF form, the public can search the table of contents and identify specific topics they find important. Click here.
The effort is being guided by Thomas and the County Fuels Mitigation Committee with input from agencies and the public.
