SPD invites public to share a donut with a cop, Ringley talks about Community Needs Assessment
The Sheridan Police Department will hold a Donut with a Cop event from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 20, at the Sheridan Donut Company.
This event allows Sheridan residents to get to know the members of Sheridan’s police force in an open and non formal setting.
SPD Captain Tom Ringley told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program that the law enforcement officers are honored to serve the community and appreciate the friendly greetings and feedback they receive from the public. Ringley wanted listeners to know that constructive criticisms are also encouraged and necessary to improve the department’s performance.
To achieve this end, the department has also partnered with Peak Consulting to conduct a Needs Assessment for the community. SPD Chief Travis Koltiska placed the assessment close to the top of his priority list to ensure the department is meeting every resident’s needs.
According to Ringley, staff from Peak Consulting are meeting with 40 members of the Sheridan community that represent a cross section of experiences and interests. These 40 residents have been spread out over five sessions to answer questions regarding the department’s performance and the needs of the community.
The findings –due at the beginning of the year– will be presented to the police department. Ringley said the department will adjust their goals and services based on the needs identified.
The Sheridan Donut Company is located at 1935 Coffeen Ave. in Sheridan.
