JCSD1 Board Approves Change to COVID Protocols
The Johnson County School board, during their regular meeting held in Kaycee this week, discussed possible changes to their COVID-19 guidelines and requirements for district schools.
One proposed change came from trustee Randy Brown to prohibit the implementation of a mask mandate or vaccine requirement for the district, which failed with trustees Brown and Lynette Fox voting for the proposal.
Later in the meeting, the board discussed a change to their Close Contact Quarantine Protocol that would allow students or staff that have come in close contact with a COVID-positive person but are asymptomatic the choice to either quarantine at home for 10 days or attend school and wear a mask.
Superintendent Charles Auzqui explained the reason for the proposed change.
The change to the quarantine protocol passed a vote of the board with Brown and Fox voting against.

So whoever thinks a mask mandate and distancing is necessary was not at that meeting. They are all within 6 feet of each other and no one is wearing a mask. I guess it isn’t serious until they say it is.
