SPD: Have plan to get home
Sheridan Police Department Captain Tom Ringley and Lieutenant Dan Keller would like to remind the public to ensure they have a safe ride home before engaging in Halloween parties around the community.
According to Chief of the Sheridan Police Department Travis Koltiska, driving while under the influence is the greatest threat to members of the Sheridan community.
To ensure public safety, the SPD has engaged in campaigns and disseminated information to the public regarding the dangers of driving under the influence. This Halloween, as residents and visitors engage in costume parties around the city, Ringley told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program that he would like to see no driving under the influence citations needing to be issued.
The SPD will be out on patrol ensuring public safety and performing walkthroughs of many Sheridan establishments. This practice is part of the community policing practices, preventing problems before they begin.

Through spreading awareness, safe-ride efforts and partnership campaigns, Ringley reports through the end of September of the current year, the SPD has made 137 DWUI arrests. The SPD Captain said this is down from the average of 152, the average amount year-to-date for 2017-21. Ringley said he would like to see the downward trend of DWUI numbers continue.
