The hunting season will begin on Sept. 1 with archery in many areas.

Last year, the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission reported a  yearly revenue of approximately $88.5 million. This includes hunting and fishing licenses, conservation stamps and fees, Super Tag program and other revenue streams.

The majority of the revenue, $75.7 million or 85%, comes from hunters, anglers, recreational shooters, and boaters. Of the $56.3 million that comes from license revenue, approximately 77% comes from nonresidents.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Public Information Specialist Christina Schmidt gave listeners a heads-up on some things to consider while preparing for the hunt. Ensure that all hunters have their hunters safety card carried with them while in the field. If hunters need another copy and attended the class in Wyoming, Schmidt said printing a new one is easy.

Plan your routes in the designated hunt areas. If hunting on private land, ensure contact has been made with the land owner. Phone applications are available on the private market that inform hunters if they have walked out of their designated hunting area or onto private property.

If hunters have not received their tags yet, Schmidt suggests calling your local Wyoming Game and Fish field office. For more information to plan your hunt, visit the Wyoming Game and Fish 2021 Hunt Planner, here.
