First Audit Walks Announced 

The Powder River Basin Resource Council, Sheridan Area Resource Council and the City of Sheridan have partnered with AARP to conduct community walk audits in Sheridan to identify pedestrian safety and accessibility concerns. 

Sheridan City Planner Kelly Schroeder, Powder River Basin Resource Council member Claire Deuter and Sheridan Area Resource Council member Pam Sajec made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse inviting the community to join them in examining selected streets and document issues involving traffic, crossings, sidewalks and accessibility.

The project is supported through an AARP Community Challenge microgrant and complements the City of Sheridan’s ongoing “Safe Streets for All” planning efforts. Organizers hope participants representing different ages, abilities and experiences will provide a broad view of how Sheridan’s streets function. If you would like to be a part of this effort, Deuter said it only takes an email.

Findings will help identify potential improvements and could potentially support future efforts to secure funding for safety projects to improve safe pedestrian travel for all in the City of Sheridan.
