An arraignment hearing for 31-year-old Rachel Stencel was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. Stencel pleaded not guilty to the charge of Endangering Children for being in possession of methamphetamine in the presence of a child, and misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine. The alleged crimes occurred on April 30.

District Court Judge John Fenn scheduled a two-day jury trial to begin on November 15 and set the date for a pretrial conference for October 12 at 10:30 am. A motion by the defense to modify Stencel’s bond was denied and Judge Fenn continued the bond under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court.

40-year-old Joseph Stencel, a co-defendant in the case, was arraigned earlier this month and pleaded not guilty to the same two charges. Felony Endangering Children is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. Misdemeanor methamphetamine possession is punishable by up to one-year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
