The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of the new Whitney Commons East Park Playground with an Ambassadors’ ribbon cutting Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025. The new 9,700 square foot playground features two sections, one geared toward 0 to 5-year-olds, and another to 7 to 12-year-olds. The complex also includes picnic benches and four pieces of workout equipment — a recumbent cycle, walker, leg press and chest press — to accommodate an older audience. Whitney Commons Park is located at 320 W. Alger St. For more information, visit https://whitneybenefits.org/about-whitney-commons/.

Well, Mr. Whitney come through again. It is so nice to have a well funded philanthropic organization in Sheridan County, always bettering the community. We are a very lucky community, not only do they loan us money to educate our population, they spend money for our enjoyment also.
