Sheridan Pilots Association Airshow Held Saturday

Roaring engines, music and white smoke trails filled the sky at the Sheridan County Airport, as the 13^th Annual Sheridan Pilots Association Airshow and Open house got underway on Saturday, August 22. Randon Kruse President of the Pilots Association talked about this year’s show.

The Mile High Air Boss was Bob Evans and Brakes Off Airshows Announcer was Jeremy Meyers.

There were four airshow acts, Extra G-Aerobatics, Nick Slabakov flying an Extra 330lx.

Redfox airshow pilot Yuichi Takagi was flying a Pitts Special S-2s biplane.

Allen Cook, who flew a T-28, talked about his plane before the airshow.

He said this plane belongs to a friend of his, Andy Dees, but he has one like it that he also flies in airshows. He explained how the plane got its name, Valkyrie and the painting on it.

He also treated the crowd to a play-by-play from the cockpit as he flew.

The last act was Undaunted with Stephen Christopher in a red (Rv-7) & Todd Rudberg in an orange (Rv-8). They treated the crowd to a facsimile dog fight, and flying wingtip to wingtip.

The pancake breakfast sponsored by Sheridan Memorial Hospital drew a large crowd, and the day was warm and sunny with a light breeze to help keep the heat away.

There were old cars and a display of planes and helicopters as well during the show.

There were several booths, including the U.S. Forest Service, with mascot Smokey Bear.
