Commissioners approve vacating easement

Sheridan County commissioners have approved an application to abandon a 10-foot wide platted utility, drainage and construction easement in the Powder Horn Ranch Planned Unit Development.

Action came during the commissioners’ meeting this week. County Planner Mark Reid said the stated reason for the application, made by Adam Connely is to remove the easement so a home can be built over the lot lines.

Reid said the county planning and zoning commission at their March 4 meeting voted 2-0 to recommend approval of vacating the easement.

In other action during their meeting, commissioners appointed Jeff Wallack as the newest member of the planning and zoning board and approved the final plat for the South Fork Subdivision in the Powder Horn. Approval included eight revisions to the final plat, all requested by Prestfeldt Surveying LLC.

Revisions include a clarification of who is responsible for maintaining roads, streets and pathways in the subdivision and an electric line easement granted to Montana-Dakota Utilities from Bird Farm Road across the western portion of three lots in the subdivision.

Also during the meeting, commissioners approved five banks as depositories for the county’s public funds. Those are Cowboy State Bank, First Federal Bank & Trust, First Interstate Bank, Security State Bank and Wells Fargo Bank.
