Action Forum for Study Circles on Middle Schoolers Announces Initiatives

The Center for a Vital Community (CVC) will be hosting an Action Forum, the culmination of Study Circles focused on Middle Schoolers, beginning at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at The Hub on Smith.
According to the CVC, ten Circles were held weekly throughout Sheridan County from Jan. 27 to March 2, including in Ranchester and Clearmont. Sheridan Junior High and Clearmont Junior-Senior High also had in-school student Circles. Thanks to the work of over 80 Circle facilitators and participants, issues middle school students face in our community were examined and discussed to work toward potential action items. At the end of the five weeks, each Circle decided on up to three initiatives they felt would make a positive change for middle schoolers and those around them.
Common themes were identified from the Circles’ action items. From there, facilitators narrowed them to five to seven initiatives, which will be announced at the Action Forum. Attendees can sign up for the first meetings to learn more and potentially become involved.
Everyone is invited to attend the Action Forum, whether they were part of Study Circles or not.
“These are community-wide conversations that make lasting impacts. The more people involved, the more successful the initiatives will be.” CVC Director Amy Albrecht said.
Previous Study Circles have addressed Early Childhood Education (2009), Poverty (2012), Creating a Dementia-Friendly Community (2015), and Mental Health (2021). Community-led initiatives are still going strong from the past Circles.
